Scam Pop-up virus

1-877-768-9361 pop-up comes in the form of Microsoft system warning and locks up your browser, and right there waiting for your call, as well as money. It contains spoofy error code like Error #36589501efe3127 and also fake help line for you to seek help from, posing high risk to your financial security.

Why didn't Norton Security stop this pop-up virus in the first place?  When I run a new Norton virus scan, Norton does not find it.  However, it still attacks my Chrome browser.  How do I get rid of it?

Re: Scam Pop-up virus

Hi. Try uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome, as that may help.

Do a full shutdown and restart after, and see if the issue still exists.

You can also run a scan with MalwareBytes Free version, which may also pick it up.

I'd suggest using version 2 and version 3 is still quite buggy.

Also try using an ad blocker add on for your browser. These popups are triggered from the web site you are on. You do not even have to click anything.

Norton probably does not find it because it is not malware. Just a browser redirect.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
