SEC_ERROR_LIBRARY_FAILURE

After installing Norton Security on my laptop FireFox gives the above message on almost all websites. I tried most of the solutions  mentioned in the forum. None worked. There is an implication that involves the remote website, but that is not true, as everything works on the desktop.

For debugging I tried running them side by side, but when I get to the part where I have to go online, the desktop connects, but the laptop does not.

Interesting: No response. Is there some way to email customer support?

I tried chat but there was a 10 minute waiting time which counted down to 9, 8,

then back up to ten. This is pretty lousy service for a product I am paying for.

Something to think about at renewal time. :(

Re: SEC_ERROR_LIBRARY_FAILURE

Have you tried refreshing Firefox? Click on Tools for firefox, once dropped down, click the blue question mark by Customize on the bottom, click troubleshooting information, then under "give firefox a tune up" click "refresh firefox"...

This error code above may also be associated with Windows Operating system corrupted file/s. If the above was not successful, i would try opening CMD Promt with Admin and running a "sfc /scannow" scan. This could have happened from a incomplete installation, in which case after you run sfc I would advise uninstalling Norton and reinstalling it again.

Thanks for the reply. That did fix it. But I was a little confused by your use of the word "Tools". Apparently you did not mean the word "Tools" that appears near the top next to "help" and "Bookmarks". What eventually worked was the 3 horizontal bars in upper right that identifies as "Open Menu". A minor detail is that the question mark is not blue until you hover over it. The first time I clicked on "Refresh Firefox" the computer locked up. I could not tell if it was doing something or not, so I waited 5 minutes, then discovered the lockup. Alt-Ctrl-del did nothing. Had to hold down the on/off button to get it to power down. Had to do the refresh deal a second time. But at least that worked.

It sounds like I am nit-picking, but the feedback about the "Tools" thing may help some other user.

Re: SEC_ERROR_LIBRARY_FAILURE

I must apologize, it has been a bit since the last time I have used Firefox, so the directions were done from memory in which I mistakenly labeled the menu tools. I'm glad it helped solve your issue though.
