Secure Online Storage Available Storage

Hi,

I have only 1 backup set on my PC which totals 3.8GB, but my availability on the online storage says it only has 12.8GB left out of 27.0GB (so 14.2GB used).  I know I've had old backup sets in the past, but I have deleted all the ones I can see.

If I select 'Delete backup set' it says it's my only set, and if I select 'Delete Backed Up Files' and select everything the total available of files in 3.8GB.  Also if I try to restore this 3.8GB set is the only one available to me.

So therefore how do I access this mystery storage of 10.4GB (14.2GB used - the 3.8GB I can access) to maintain it?

Thanks in advance,

Pete

Re: Secure Online Storage Available Storage

Hi PeteNewman666.

Welcome to the Norton Community Forums.

If you look at Windows Explorer (or File Explorer) and look at My Computer you should see the "Norton Backup Drive".  Open that when you have an internet connection and it should show all the Norton Backup sets visible to your machine, including old set.  Looking at the normal Norton Security - Backup window will only show sets created on the current machine.  Hopefully you will see what else, if anything, is taking up space.

You can also delete online backups from the Norton Backup Drive.

I hope that helps.

Re: Secure Online Storage Available Storage

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your reply.  Unfortunately when I looked at the Norton Backup Drive on File Explorer it still only shows 1 backup set.  I have an old computer and as a test I set up a different backup set and this does show on my current one on the Norton Backup Drive.  Also I can see on my current computer the test backset on my old PC when I select the 'Delete Backed up Files' option.

So I still have 10.4GB of mystery data that is eating into my available storage.

Anyone else have any ideas?  I wonder if Norton can reset it all so I can start again?

Thanks,

Pete

Re: Secure Online Storage Available Storage

Hello again PeteNewman666.

If the viewing of the backups seems to show just the one normal backup (now plus your trial) then the next thought is that the original backup has grown in size due to a possible error in the way Norton backups sometimes store backup files.  If this is the case then the best thing is to create a new backup and when that is safely stored delete the old large one.  You seem to still have sufficient space online to run a new backup set.  Why not try that?

Mike
