Slooow performance after installing Norton for Windows

Hello, new to the forum here.

Looking for advice on what could be causing some poor performance related issues after installation of Norton for Windows.  I installed on 2 pcs (both Windows 10-64, 1 Acer, 1 HP) several days ago, and both systems are extremely slow and very close to unusable.  Google Chrome on both systems.  I am not a tech person but can find my way around on a computer ok.  Any advice on what could be causing poor performance?  Lack of performance is noticed when selecting an icon from the desktop and web browsing.  Start up does not seem to be an issue.

Help appreciated!

Re: Slooow performance after installing Norton for Windows

Hi. Have you been updated to the latest version which is being progressively rolled out ?

It fixes various problems, and is version 22.9.0.68.

Have you done full restarts and do you have Fast Start Up disabled, as this can cause issues.

Run Live Update until no more are found, and with the new version you will have several restarts.

Re: Slooow performance after installing Norton for Windows

Hello

Did you thoroughly remove your previous security program using their removal tool before installing  your Norton product.

Also, when first installed, there are a lot of background activities that have to be done. Most of these are done while the computer is idle, but some things do have to get done.. It has to run a full system scan and that might take some time.

Thanks.
