Steam VIVE

Hi all, I have recently bought a Vive VR kit, Norton doesn't seem to like it and to get it to work properly I had to uninstall Norton completely. Has anyone else had this issue. I am happy with Norton and want to keep it, is there anything I can switch off so I can use the VIVE?

Re: Steam VIVE

What error were you getting from Norton?

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Steam VIVE

Norton isn't saying there's anything wrong. Vive just isn't working. I assume something in Norton isn't letting it connect. Vive is coming up with several codes from it's own listings. In the early days of having it I just kept disconnecting and reconnecting Vive along with coming out and back in to Steam, closing down the computer etc and eventually I got it to work with no apparent single thing that I did correcting the fault. I contacted the help desk on Steam and they haven't had any specific issues like this, but advised they have had some issues with different programs including anti-virus's such as Norton. They suggested I try removal of Norton to see what happened. As soon as I did Vive behaved itself with no issues since. If no one else has come across anything like this I will have to reload Norton and start switching bits off. If nothing cures the issue I'm going to have to try MacAfee. This is the antivirus that the local Game outlet use on their set up and have had no issues with Vive.

Re: Steam VIVE

Hello uk-kestrel

Please put the VIVE folder into Settings>Antivirus>Scans and Risks>Exclusions/Low Risks>Items to exclude from scans> Also the one below that one.

Put the folder into each of the Configures

Please let us know if this helps.

Thanks.

Re: Steam VIVE

Hi guys, thanks for your input. Reloaded Norton to try out your suggestion but tried VIVE prior to doing anything and it was okay for a few tries of just starting it up. Wasn't until yesterday that I used it for any length of time and it was 100% fine.

I can only assume that loading Norton back on after loading VIVE program meant that Norton recognised it as friendly and allowed it to work. I will keep the message you sent for future reference and also forward the details to Steam help desk in case anyone else has the same issue. Thank you once again.
