STILL REPEATED INSTANCES OF IDENTITY SAFE ACCESS DISAPPEARING FROM NORTON TOOLBAR

SHOUTING? YOU BET I AM.

Cursed Norton Safe search/ Norton Tool bar?Identity Safe extensions.

Continue to drop out from Google Chrome on my Windows 10 set up.

Norton Support Agents have be continually connecting to my pc for months, and variously spending from 20 minutes to about 6 hours getting the second line of toolbar, (with Identity Safe tab), appearing on my opening page and working, only to have it disappear again, mostly after logging out and re- logging in.

I have gone through checking extensions are enabled. Disabled, Re-enabled time and again.

Re-started pc time and again, checked for and downloaded updates, un-installed and re-installed Norton 360.

Do what I and half of Norton's support staff will.

THE PROBLEM RECURS OVER AND OVER AGAIN

DOES ANYONE FROM NORTON READ OR TAKE ANY NOTICE OF THIS WIDESPREAD PROBLEM IT MUST COST THEM $MILLIONS IN AGENT TIME.

What are you using for your home page?

When I open a new tab in Chrome, there is no Norton Toolbar displayed. As soon as I navigate to a web site, it will appear.

BTW you are not yelling at Norton but at other users like yourself who come here to try to help. So a little honey will get you further when posting in the forums.

Re: STILL REPEATED INSTANCES OF IDENTITY SAFE ACCESS DISAPPEARING FROM NORTON TOOLBAR

Hello, Peter?, profuse apologies for my misdirected vituperative outburst. It is the result of my finally losing all sense of reason, after months of repeated instances of inability to log on to any  of my web sites, including Norton itself, (to seek support), for hours at a time, often, when just wanting to access my mail in the wee hours before going to bed.

When I do, somehow, manage to access my vault after goodness knows how many complex and ill understood manoeuvres, I get on to Norton Support, for a final resolution, but this sometimes has taken up to six hours, depending on the 'Agent', and always turned out to be a temporary fix. Meaning hours of lost sleep and frustration, which just returns in a cycle of red mist.

I have read many submissions around about, of people having the same problems, trying all manner of options, so I am not alone.

I am not tech savvy, but was once a whizz at removing the engine of my Ford  Prefect, on my own, by standing on the wings and lifting it out with a rope, then stripping it and shooting off to the motor engineering works to get the Con Rod ends 're-metalled' .       ' Just to indicate the length of my teeth, you understand' Ha-ha.

By 0515 this morning, I gave up and resurrected 'Internet Explorer', (which I feel sure I had been told was obsolete) and there was my Norton Safe search toolbar with the second row of tabs, including the working 'Identity Safe tab'.

So problem solved. I have kicked the Google Chrome aberration into oblivion. I despise Google in any way , shape or form anyway, as it is like a cancer spreading its all pervasive tentacles throughout all our lives, with predictable results.

Many thanks for your reply and guidance

Don't worry about the length of teeth. Some of us here may actually have longer teeth than you.

I just had a thought on  the Chrome issue. If you check your Chrome extensions, see if you have two different versions of the ID Safe extension. I have an older 1.05 version that supports the Norton Toolbar, and a newer 5.1.0.80 that does not use the Toolbar. If you have both, disable the newer 5.1.0.80 version and see if that helps.

Hi again Peter?.

Thanks for your suggestion, I had previously dumped the 5.1.0.80 version, but have just checked that I do indeed have version 1.05.

I am delighted to be back on my comfortable old Internet Explorer, it is much faster on my set up and I have never liked Chrome anyway, only changing because I understood I E was going out.

Regards

Barney
