Strange things in Firewall traffic rules.

I noticed today that my NS has strange traffic rules that I never has before there (using Norton more that a year)- a lot of ^^^Default Allow Inbound rules there. What is this rules need for? Is that some sort of malware?

Re: Strange things in Firewall traffic rules.

There are different firewall rules for different situations.  Some protocols are blocked in some instances and allowed in others.  For example, traffic that is allowed on a private network to facilitate communications between devices might be blocked on a public network to prevent access from outsiders.  You need a rule for each situation, and so you may see what appear to be contradictory or duplicate rules, but each is actually only applied in specific situations.

Ok, but but it's strange that these rules appered afer all this time I use Norton. Never saw them before.

Re: Strange things in Firewall traffic rules.

Maybe a Windows update triggered the creation of new firewall rules. Maybe MS added some new 'feature' that accesses the internet. A rule will be created when the new feature first accesses the net.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

So maybe someone here have these rules too? I just want to know should I worry about it or not...

Re: Strange things in Firewall traffic rules.

Norton occasionally updates firewall rules.  This is nothing to worry about.

Re: Strange things in Firewall traffic rules.

These rules have been added by Norton only as an enhancement in 22.10.1 release.
