Tedious getting into Password Manager

It would be preferred to have the Password Manager start automatically with Norton. I never know if the vault is open; I often have to open it multiple times. Given it is part of Norton, I prefer that it start automatically with Norton following a pc restart.

That way its always open and available for use to make the component more effective. I know the vault password, but then I am often required to sign on to the Norton server as well making the process very tedious.

Re: Tedious getting into Password Manager

Hello

For safety reasons, you have to open up the Vault by first entering password for your Norton Account and then the Vault. The Vault was purposely created to stay open for 15 minutes at a time if you don't close it before that time. The Password Manager can be used without a Norton account, so it won't start automatically with Norton. The layer of Security wouldn't be there then.

Thanks.

Re: Tedious getting into Password Manager

Its a nice feature but for those of use who;s laptop never leaves their home, safety is not an issue. The startup of the process needs to be rethought. I dont see any separate startup in the program list so I have no idea how one would start it standalone, but one started, it should remain open at least for the duration of one's session until laptop is put to sleep. My thoughts anyway.

Re: Tedious getting into Password Manager

But many time trying to contact the Norton Server fails, resulting getting into the Vault hopeless, thus making this Norton software useless, best to go to another Security software!!! (make one doubt LifeLock if Norton is in control of this ID conglomerate)!!!

Re: Tedious getting into Password Manager

I believe he is having the same problem that many others are having on the forum who have to log into their Norton account each time before they can even get to their vault to enter that password, They are the lucky ones. Some have to log out of their accounts first, then log back in to the account before they get to the vault password. So basically, they have to enter two passwords to get into their vault. There has been a problem with this for the past several weeks.

Re: Tedious getting into Password Manager

What I am saying is sometimes one can not even contact the server, ( screen states connection to Norton Server has failed, try later) is this due too many trying to contact the server or an IT screw up? This decision to use these procedures was in poor and lacking thought!!!

Re: Tedious getting into Password Manager

Hello

In my post above, I meant the NPM, can be used without a Norton Security product instead of Norton account.

Re: Tedious getting into Password Manager

I am having exactly the same problem, once Norton installed with tool bar in Internet Explorer it says Vault closed, click this and receive message Get Started and Sign in, instead of giving me boxes to sign in with username & password, it just goes to Communicating with Norton Server when you click Sign in but fails to connect all the time.

Re: Tedious getting into Password Manager

I agree that the two stage login process is time wasting.  It used to be requested occasionally, but for the last few days every time I start a browsing session in IE I am required to give two logins.  This evening the process has been exacerbated by the server not being available for a period, meaning more time wasted.  There should be an option to allow single logins to vaults for those customers who are working on their personal laptops.  Those who require the more secure authentication could opt out if they wish.

Re: Tedious getting into Password Manager

Completely agree with the comments above. Someone with too much time on their hands has decided to change a perfectly good process.

I will certainly be bearing this poor customer treatment at contract renewal time.
