Time to renew

I currently have Norton premium and have used 8 of the10 licenses  BUT this year I only need 5 but do not see an option to buy Premium with 5 licenses.  I don't want to buy 10 licenses because I wont use but 5 tops.  The big benefit of premium to me is that it has backup where deluxe, which has a 5 license option, does not have that function.  Anyone know any options I may have missed besides buying a separate product to backup my files.  I don't even use the cloud storage because of hackers and  I backup to a local  USB device when backing up.

Re: Time to renew

The Premium product only comes with the 10 device protection. If you use the backup feature, you have no other option. If you do not use the backup, you can downgrade to the Deluxe version which covers 5 devices.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Time to renew

I do all my back ups manually, maybe trying that would be good for you?  I have an external 1TB hard drive that I do manual backups with every month.

That's what i do.  A nice Lexar 64GB, however, they do have 128 as well.  Funny thing also, half the stuff i "back up" is probably not worth backing up anyway because things are always changing or at least in my case.

Hammer_Bro  if its your and you feel it's important to back up, then its probably is, cause really only you can make that decision what is important to you with your files :-).

Re: Time to renew

Thank you all for the responses.  Id like to stay with Norton but i dont heed 10 licenses which they force you to buy if you want the function.  Norton should revisit their tier policy for premium

It is interesting that you mention that.  That would be logical..., however, sometimes, i'll re-review items on an old memory key and i'm like, "What is this stuff..."  Then sometimes i think over-compensation plays in i.e. in a frenzy you try to back up as much as you can (say due to a pressing situation) but really those things are accessible anyway e.g. saving internet favorites like g-mail, saving the 'my pictures' folder (even if nothing is in it - - thinking you might need this after a revamp or moving to a new system all to find that there is a new 'my pictures' folder waiting.  Forgive me if this post is just sounding odd, anyway, that is a nice avatar that you have - - very calming.

Sincerely,

H.B.

Re: Time to renew

I use two free products to backup my systems.

1) Macrium Reflex Free which makes an Image of your disk or partitions. I use it for my OS and programs.

2) MS SyncToy which will backup Folders and Files. I use this for my Data disks. I use the Echo option which will backup any files that are New, Updated, Deleted or Moved.

Re: Time to renew

It's probably because it was important to you then, and now its not.  I have the same thing as well when I do back ups but since I go around my computer and find the things that I want to keep at that time, i copy it to my external.  There's times I reviewed it (once every year and a half) and just delete things that I don't need.

I have come across some PC help sites that say you only ever should back up your documents and sometimes telling people what they are backing up is wrong, and I don't think that is ok because they don't know what is important to the other person and what isn't.

Nope not odd at all, as Dad always taught us "the only silly question out there is one that's not being asked."

Thanks.  I looked up christian wallpapers and I found it so I go it.

Hello quotes54

If you get the Premium again, you can share the other remaining devices with someone else if you don't need them all. Just an idea.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.
