toolbar can not connect to norton account

toolbar can not connect to norton account

Identity Safe Toolbar (2013.4.2.2 - firefox 23.0.1 extension) has stopped working.

1. After clicking "Access Vault" or "Settings" it asked for email and password for norton account.
Enter both info and it gave me an small triangle red icon. ("Please enter a valid password")

2. I did ask for norton remote support - 1 hour of remote supoort - still not working.

3. I CAN connect to norton account then vault account through browser.

4. Install a 30 days trial version (NIS 2013), I was able to connect to norton account thought IE.
but firefox extension 2013.4.0.10 was disable. (fail to liveupdate to 2013.4.2.2 using IE)

5. a New one 2014.5.0.67 showed up yesterday in my PC. Still can not connect to norton account. (sam error as no 1. - ("Please enter a valid password"))

Any suggestions?

Welcome,

The beta software runs on a different set of servers from the production products. This means that some of the links between the beta products and the production features may not work as expected. It sounds like you found one and you also found the workaround.

In 5 above, you say you got version 2014.x.x.x. Is that a typo or are you using the beta version of Norton?

What Norton product and version number are you using?  Click on Support - About.

If you are using the beta version, as noted the account servers are different for the beta products. Using your account information from a working Production version will not work.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

I do not know it is a beta version or not. I got it in my pc automatically (maybe liveupdate download it?) while my 2013 toolbar was not working. I am sure I did not download it myself. I love the new one (but the mini icon is terrible ugly) .

OK, back to my problem.

After I spent one day following the direction and debuggng

good one

At first I was still not able to connect through IE and Firefox after I went through all the steps in above link (good one).  Then I got an idea to by pass it.

Got an export DAT from Step 4 (While using IE). Then I created an new norton account and valut account using Firefox browser. I then import DAT to my new account.

Now both IE and firefox can see my new account. You might be asking that "how about the old account?" -  the toolbar is also working for my old account.  Strange? Right?

Case close.

Hi,

To my way of thinking 'strange' and 'computer' are almost the same thing. If I were to guess at what's happening I'd say that what you did with the creation of the new vault cleaned up the problem that was created by the crossup of things between the beta servers and the production servers.

Yes that was my 'bad'. I went back to re read that post from Tony and the stand alone toolbar is now being listed as 2014 versions.

Sorry for any confusion. And glad to see you have found your solution.
