Transfering Identity Safe data from old hard drive to new

Hello!

I recently updated my computer and my old c: drive is now a second hard drive on my new system.  This also included moving from Windows xp 32 bit to W7 64 bit.  Is there a way to copy and paste my old identity safe file from the old c: drive to the new?  If so where is it founds and named?  I tried the Export / Import option, but could not figure it out.

Thanks!

Andy

Hi Andy,

A bit more information would be handy.  Which Norton Product are you using?  NIS/N360 and the version number.  The product and version will determine what format your exported/backed-up ID Safe Data is saved in and assist in seacrhing for the file on your old HDD.

Re: Transfering Identity Safe data from old hard drive to new

I am interested in a performing similar tasks:

I need to combine the Identifty Safe info from my last comp (Windows 7, unknown Norton version) and my current comp (XP, Norton 5.2.1.3 and put it onto a new computer that will have Windows 7 and probably Norton 5.2.1.3.

To minimize confusion and keep my data organized, I would really like to be able to print it out. That way I could store a hard copy somewhere else and also figure out which passwords/etc are current and correct.

I've looked thru the Security Suite and can't seem to find a way to do either of those tasks.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thx,

K

@ KellyK,

Are you by chance using Norton Security Suite (NSS) from Comcast?  I ask as you mentioned "Security Suite" and also version 5.2.1.3 - the current version for NSS.

You can not print out the ID Safe data from Version 5.2.1.3 as it is saved in an encrypted .npm format.

Thank you fotr your interest!  I was using Norton 360 ver. 5 .???  but when setting up the new system I was prompted to switch to 360 ver. 6.  So I guess the quick abswer would be Norton 360 5. something has the file I am looking for.

Hi Andy,

Please open Windows Explorer (Right Click Start and select it) Select the hard drive yuo think the info is contained on and then seaerch for .npm.  If you have ever backed up your ID Safe it should find the file.
