Trusteer Compatibility Alert

Today, for the first time in over two years of using first NIS, then two newer versions of NS, I came back to my computer after waking it from sleep after an hour or, so to a Application Compatibility Check alert (see norton compat.pdf) for Trusteer Rapport Endpoint Protection. NS and Trusteer have been working all this time with no alerts like this. I see there are a few threads on Trusteer but there doesn't seem to have been a single solution.

If I click Skip & Continue I get a dialogue as though I'm installing something called Norton Community Watch (see ns.pdf attached). When I click ed through it installed a few version of NS with a slightly different interface.

Re: Trusteer Compatibility Alert

Hello materialman

Every so often, Symantec and Trusteer have some issues. It happens sometimes when one or the other update their programs. I can check with Symantec and see if there is any current communications going on between Symantec and IBM--- the owner of Trusteer now. This is still the weekend here so there aren't any Employees that I know around now. Gurus do have contact with some Symantec Employees.

I'll see if I can stir something up about this again.

Norton Community Watch is part of Norton Security. It's a voluntary thing, but I like it because it has logs of the different activities that go on with Norton Security. It reports what goes on in your computer as far as what versions you have of programs and where you downloaded it from. If you should get any malware, it would be recorded in those logs.

Thanks.

Re: Trusteer Compatibility Alert

You are seeing Norton installation notices.  Norton may be trying to install the 22.7.0.76 update.  Trusteer Rapport should be compatible with Norton, but it may need to be removed for Norton to complete the upgrade, after which you should be able to reinstall TR with no issues.

Re: Trusteer Compatibility Alert

Hi floplot

I opted out of Norton Community Watch as I was unsure about it but thanks to the information and link you provided I have now enabled it.

SendOfJive

As you rightly say, it did indeed install 22.7.0.76 (I updated my signature accordingly). I was a bit worried as for about 10 minutes after the restart, the Windows 7 Action Centre indicated all the security was turned of. It did eventually all turn on.

Also I did not remove TR but wondered if it would be best now to remove and reinstall, or maybe just wait and see?

Thanks both for your answers - much appreciated.

Re: Trusteer Compatibility Alert

Norton and Trusteer Rapport should be compatible.  I would not bother removing and reinstalling either program unless you notice any conflicts.

 Thank you - I won't.

Error Notifications appear due to handling events. Not all errors and problems can be handled.

Verdict: Do not put the product! You can harm the stability and level of protection Norton.

Thank you - I won't.

Why write in the forum? You act like you want and nothing more.

No support from Norton. One update from the antivirus and the "cap".
