Unable to activate boxed copies of Norton Online Backup

I purchased boxed copies of NOBU for my mother and fathers computers but am unable to activet them on their accounts. I have tried twice in a week in case of web site issues and just get this:

"Something went wrong. Norton Online Backup is sorry something went wrong and will look at it right away. Click here to return to the previous page."

I am attempting to activate the new codes on their accounts via the "Activate Norton Online Backup" link on the "My Subscriptions" page.

I am getting the same error on both accounts.

Hi Wesley,

I think part of your message was missing there?

Hi CheezWiz

Seems it ate most of it. I wanted to find out if you had purchased Norton 360 with online backup or specifically Norton Online Backup. The only physical media Norton Online Backup has had are cards like gift cards you can get at the store. There hasn't been boxed media since all of its installer is online based.

Both. I had 5 boxed copies I had purchased from Amazon on sale a while back and 5 cards I purchased at New Egg. I buy these as well as Norton AV on sale and bank them as gifts. I am attempting to use the last of my boxed copies and the first of the credit card styled copies. No 360 involved.

Thanks. Based on that its likely the product key is invalid. It can happen sometimes unfortunately. Contact support at www.norton.com/chat and advise them you have a NOBU card that has an invalid product key. Request they assist in generating a new one so you can use it. There should be no reason they need to login to your machine or touch anything. They may request to see the receipt and definitely will need the key you're trying to use.

Re: Unable to activate boxed copies of Norton Online Backup

Wesley,

I have PM'd you regarding my experience with chat support. I am using restraint by saying I am disappointed. I am an IT professional who uses and recommends Symantec products. I have always received stellar support for both my personal and professional related products. As you can see in this photo, I buy boxed products to keep on-hand as gifts because no one ever backs up or renews their AV.. After the chat I just had, I have a sinking feeling that my investments in boxed products as gifts may be money wasted...

Hi CheezWiz

The image was blocked. I've reviewed the log that you sent to me via PM and sent you a direct email. Please check your direct email. We'll get this sorted out. Don't let one misguided agent ruin the whole batch. I can understand why they directed you back to the retailer but at the same time its been more than a year so its unlikely they'd even do anything.
