Unable to connect to odbc database after Norton Security Installation

Hi

I installed Norton Security with Backup on my Windows 7 machine yesterday. After that, I am unable to connect to FoxPro database via MS Access 2013. I get the error "odbc connection failed", when I try to link the tables. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Re: Unable to connect to odbc database after Norton Security Installation

Hi Lakshmi Palaparambil Dinesh:

There is a similar problem being discussed in dufresne37927's Microsoft Word VFPODBC Issue Since Recent Norton Update in the NIS.N360/NAV board that might be helpful.  There's no workaround posted yet but Symantec has asked for diagnostic logs and dump files from some of the affected users.

Thank you. This is helpful. Do you have any idea how to take diagnostic logs and dump files?

Re: Unable to connect to odbc database after Norton Security Installation

Hi lakshmi603:

Symantec employee Tony Weiss is monitoring dufresne37927's thread Microsoft Word VFPODBC Issue Since Recent Norton Update so hopefully he'll respond to your post in that thread If Tony needs more data about this ODBC issue for the software development team he will likely contact you via a private message (PM) and send you instructions for collecting and uploading dump files to the Symantec Enhanced Testing site.

If you are sent a PM you'll receive an automatic e-mail notification and your Inbox link will indicate that you have an unread message in your Inbox, as long as you haven't changed the default settings for PMs in your forum account (Account | Edit | Private Messages)

Re: Unable to connect to odbc database after Norton Security Installation

It's now 5 months later! This is my problem too! Processing with XP Prof. SP3 I encountered a serious problem with Norton Security: The hardware was shut down for about one month and after normal booting a large update to Norton Security downloaded and installed. Subsequently, the following error occurred when trying to access linked FoxPro tables with MS Access: “ODBC call failed” or “ODBC – connection to Visual FoxPro Tables failed” or “OBDC call failed specified driver could not load error 0”. Next, I uninstalled Norton Security and Access works fine as before! This system is for now offline for security reasons. There is a related entry at “answers.microsoft.com” by Dinesh (Norton Support) dated 10/9/15 reading “our team is working to provide a resolution at the earliest.” What is the resolution? Can you help?
