Try restarting your system.

It is a known bug that Symantec are working on.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

Hello Super Tenere

Have you tried signing out from your account using the main page of your Norton product, then restarting and open up your Norton product and signing in again? Remember to give first the password for the Norton Account and then the password for the Vault. Please see if this works. Please come back and let us know.

Thanks.

Re: Unable to login to Norton Vault but was working ok

After the latest upgrade, I can access my vault when on this site, but neither of the two NIS installs (Windows 7 and Windows 8.1) can access the vault via the NIS app. When I try, it seems to search for the login site for a long time and then finally I get this message:  "The operation timed out. Check your network connection or try again at a later time."  This happens every time with both installs until it tells me I have tried too many times, to go stand in the corner again and wait.

I just followed the advice in the last post above, given to Supere Tenere.
On both computers I signed out from my Norton account via the main page of each Norton product.
The install was checked and given a thumbs up, install is fine.
I closed all open apps and shut down both computers.
I restarted both computers.
I signed in to my Norton account and then the vault from the NIS application.
I get the exact same message.

My first thought is that the firewall was preventing the app to connect.  I checked.  Windows firewall is disabled, so it can't be the problem.  If the latest install of NIS is preventing itself to connect, I am stumped.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?  I'm upset enough about having passwords stored in the cloud, keep looking for a local option for Identity Safe.  This, however, is maddening.

Please fix this or tell me how I can.

Edit to say:  Even better.  How do I install this standalone instead? > https://community.norton.com/en/forums/product-update-norton-identity-safe-standalone-201471142

Re: Unable to login to Norton Vault but was working ok

Hello SW

If you want to download and install the Identity Safe Stand Alone from this.

You can download and install Norton Identity Safe Standalone Product from https://identitysafe.norton.com for Free.

However, if you have NIS installed, you can't use IDSS since this is part of NIS and N360.

Have you updated to Firefox 41? If so, this may be the reason for difficulties. Please see.

Thanks.

Re: Unable to login to Norton Vault but was working ok

1. In re Firefox, I updated it even though I haven't been using it.

Under add-ins, I now see:
Norton Toolbar is incompatible with Firefox 41.0

Norton Toolbar 2015.5.2.24 (disabled)

Tried accessing ID Safe again from app and from IE.  Still unable to connect.

2. I will try logging out from the app, then logging back in, on both computers next.

3. If that doesn't work, I'll go through the pain of completely shutting everything down again.  And with all I have going on it truly is a pain.

4. I will report back.

Symantec, if you're listening, this is the first time I have felt you did a horrendous job with your NIS updates, but I really, really, do this time, have been using NIS since early 2000s.

Re: Unable to login to Norton Vault but was working ok

I tried all above, except #3.  No more time to deal with this.  I don't see a way to actually talk to an official support person.  Mark me as a very potentially previous customer.  This is a Symantec fail in my view.

Thanks for your patience and help, Norton Fighter.  I don't see how you could have done more.

Re: Unable to login to Norton Vault but was working ok

Hello All

Since Symantec is redoing the Norton Toolbar for Firefox, it is highly recommended that you update to FF41 The Norton Toolbar will not be compatible with FF41 until late Oct. It is recommended that you use IE or Chrome and stick with FF 41Sorry, I know if you use FF, that you want to use the newest FF and Norton is delaying you by not being able to use the Toolbar. Please see the Blog Announcement for further information.

Sorry, but thanks.

floplot:

Since Symantec is redoing the Norton Toolbar for Firefox, it is highly recommended that you stay on FF 40.0.3.

I don't think that Symantec is highly recommending staying on Firefox 40.  They are suggesting it as an option.  Since Firefox 41 includes some critical security fixes, the prudent thing to do is to do the upgrade and use one of the other suggested workarounds.
