Unable to use Download Manager (Errors)

I recently (today) purchased the Norton Security Premium - 10 Device subscription.  I attempted to install it (after uninstalling my old av, cleaning temp files, rebooting, and removing any other anti-malware software (Malwarebytes) and another reboot.)  I always get the same error.  "Error-Unable to Continue. 80047ec6, 80072ee7" and that's it.  It never installs.  There are no errors in the event log.  I've run it normally and as an Administrator.  I'm installing as a Local Admin.

Seeing as how I have several other computers, I get the exact same results.  More than one of my computers lives at a different location on a different ISP, different router, and it gets the same results.  I always get the same error.  I was able to install Norton Utilities just fine.  But Norton Download Manager won't download anything anywhere.

I've made sure the isn't a firewall in the way (Windows or Gateway).  I turned off all other security services from my SonicWALL here at home (Gateway AV, Gateway IPS, Content Filtering) and get the same results.  At the other two places, they are using just basic NAT routers.. no filtering at all.  Windows Firewall is disabled.  No third party firewalls or other security software is installed. (In fact, one of the computers I tried was a brand new, fully-patched Windows 10 Pro install.  No other software other than Windows and drivers, and I get the same results.

All of my computers are a mix of Windows 10 Pro and Home.  I've got one I tested that is running the release version, a few are running the anniversary update, and I have two running the creators update.  All of them get the same results.  These two errors.  I can't find anywhere to download the entire thing to install.  It looks as though it forces you to use the download manager.  (I found an article from May that had a link, but they lead nowhere.. you get a not-found error from Symantec).

If I can't find a solution soon, I'll be asking for my money back.

Re: Unable to use Download Manager (Errors)

I have the same problem except I was able to install Norton Security Deluxe on my iMac and my laptop which is running Window 10. But when I tried to install in on my PC desktop which is also running Windows 10 I get this same error message 80047ec6, 80072ee7.  then tells me to go to web site and install from there, get same messages.  I tried to do everything I could find to help but nothing.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hello

Can you please post a screenshot of the error message?

Here are the instructions on how to add a image to your post.

Have you used the removal tools from the previous security program?

Please try this.

Re: Unable to use Download Manager (Errors)

floplot, I was having the same issues as everyone in this thread.  The link you suggested worked for me!  Thank you!

Re: Unable to use Download Manager (Errors)

I also had this issue until I tried the link from flopot - thank you, that also worked for me!.

The Norton Download Manager is supposed to get the real program files separately, but never gets past Initializing and then errors out. I had no problems installing on another computer a few weeks ago. I am installing this on a new customer-built computer with clean Windows 10 - no bloatware or anything pre-installed. Norton must have removed these files on their file servers by accident or something else is wrong on their side.

Thank goodness flopot provided the link to the full version which skips the need for the Norton Download Manager (http://www.norton.com/latestns).

Symantec - fix this or you'll get more angry people!

Yep...  All exactly the same here and that linked worked perfectly.  Up and running.  Thanks

Re: Unable to use Download Manager (Errors)

The link from flop worked but only from this forum.  When I typed the address into bing it said the page did not exist.  I am not up and running. YEA! Now I have to figure out why my laptop is not showing up in my account as protected.

I too am having this issue.

Re: Unable to use Download Manager (Errors)

It won't work if you type it into a search engine like Bing or Google.

It is a direct link to the download file; therefore, you have to type it (or copy and paste it) it into the Address Bar at the top of your browser.  That will take you directly to that address (not via a search engine), and it will start the download.

At least with that download link I was able to download and install a Desktop.  That host is not showing up in my account (even though I provided the activation details, and it shows it is activated).  So I'm waiting to see if it takes some time, or if it won't show up until the normal download manager install starts working.  The last thing I want to do is install this on all of my personal computers and family computers only to have to re-do it so it shows up properly in the console once the bug is fixed.

Re: Unable to use Download Manager (Errors)

Thanks for explaining about the direct link.  I now have everything set up on my 4 devices.  I had trouble with it showing in my account also.  So I opened Norton and clicked on More Protection (windows 10), highlighted manage (turned blue) then clicked on manage my protection box and it activated the computer and allowed me to turn on remote management (settings, administrative settings, remote management) and then it showed up in my account.  I think I had to restart my computer at this point.

Re: Unable to use Download Manager (Errors)

Yeah I just had this happen after completely reinstalling windows brand new, so its not related to old left behind versions.  I tried a few things like reboot, removing video card drives as i found in an older forum related to this error, but nothing works.  Its a windows 10 machine.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for reporting an issue in Norton Community Forums. Norton Download Manager error "Unable to continue: 80047ec6, 80072ee7"  issue should be resolved by now. Could you please try again and let us know the issue status?

Re: Unable to use Download Manager (Errors)

I was able to actually use the download manager to install one of my endpoints.  I will try some more when I get home tonight.  It looks promising.

Thank you,

Greg

Re: Unable to use Download Manager (Errors)

This was my experience. Yours could be completely different. I also used the link provided by floplot. It worked, but I need to add some caveats. It appears clean installs of Windows and use of Norton removal tool "possibly" (accent on possibly) could be causing this issue and error codes.

I had a major issue on two laptops when I "upgraded" (or whatever you want to call it) to Win 10 Media Creators' Edition. Big surprise there, huh? My 'upgrades' failed so miserably, my laptops and one PC would not boot after attempting to get Creators Edition (1703) to install. Long story short. I had to do a 'clean install' of Windows and lost all apps and documents (yes I have back-ups). It's just a pain to do so.

After clean install of Windows, my first install attempt was getting Norton back on all systems. Negative. I got the same error codes everybody else is getting. Hence my belief Norton doesn't like a clean install of Windows.

I am on a satellite connection to get to the internet. As a result, I drove 30 miles to get to a local library to download floplot's link. It was about 160Mb. Keep this in mind if you are in the same situation. That would take hours.

Downloaded directly from link. Here begins the caveats.

When you download those Norton files, you will get a message that your subscription is only valid for 1 day. Not a problem. After you download the files, install them, and then reboot.

THEN, sign into your Norton account and go to Manage Account. THEN you can do the download the files that Norton points to that originally created the error messages that people are seeing in this stream (and others). This is a ridiculous work-around, but that is what I had to do to avoid getting the ec6 & ee7 errors.

After spending a week trying to fix a Windows update problem, I really didn't need Norton to do the same. YO! Norton, FIX THIS!

Many thanks to floplots link.

Good Luck,

DrewToo.

Re: Unable to use Download Manager (Errors)

I want to make sure you didn't so the same thing I did when I first tried it (after this fix).  I wasn't even paying attention, and I attempted to use one of the Download Manager installs that I have already downloaded.  Those failed.  I signed in, and downloaded an entirely NEW installer, and that worked.

I'm not saying you did - but I want to make sure everyone else gets the benefit of my screw up before saying it is still broken.

I've now done three installs and they have all worked using the download manager after the fix.

I had the same issue, with the same error message in Microsoft edge. Downloaded google chrome and it installed straight way.

@IAVOR BITCHOVSKI

The issue was fixed more than a month ago as per above Sunil_GA Administrator's post https://community.norton.com/en/comment/7510241#comment-7510241

Do you have any other vendor's product installed on your machine? If so, it should be removed with that vendor's removal tool prior to installing Norton and then LiveUpdate should be run until it says no more updates available and shows current version (Norton UI > Help > About).  If this doesn't help, you can contact Customer Support using this link http://norton.com/chat (give it a few moments to turn into your language)

Keep us posted. Thanks.
