Unable to view some web sites even though they are marked "safe" by Norton.

I cannot view some web sites even though they are marked "safe" by Norton.

Running Google Chrome. I receive the following message:

Your Internet access is blocked

Firewall or antivirus software may have blocked the connection.

Try:

ERR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED,

I have tried these solutions. Norton has control over firewall/antivirus. Updated Norton. Still not working.

I am very frustrated. NEED to access! Please help.

Please name websites that you cannot view.
Please post URLs.

Um, have you temporary disabled Norton to check access to those websites.

I don't know what a DNS server is or how to look it up to tell you. . I looked at the link you provided, but I am not technical/no computer "insider", so afraid to go into the guts of my laptop! Sorry.

Re: Unable to view some web sites even though they are marked "safe" by Norton.

All worked fine for me as well, IE 11 as my browser. Norton Core didn't block anything.

Edited: Clear your cache in Chrome and restart Chrome, sometimes that helps alleviate issues.

Cheers

Can you post a screenshot of the error message? That might help us diagnose what is blocking the sites for you.

Instructions to post screenshots can be found here

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Try Uninstalling and Reinstalling Chrome 74.0 to allow Chrome to accept Norton Firewall Rule in case if Chrome gets misconfigured.

Hello

I just tried all 3 sites with the latest Chrome just  after midnight EDT. It may be a temporary server error. I'm on Win 7 Pro with Norton Core Security Plus which means Norton Security with a Core Router. Core didn't block it either. Are you using a ad blocker. Perhaps trying a ad blocker will help.

Have a Good Night and

Have you tried another browser to see if it is a browser specific problem?

Did you run the Windows Network diagnostics as noted in the error message page?

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

peterweb and everyone who offered solutions: I have no idea why this cannot be resolved on my laptop.

However, I connected the laptop to the "personal hotspot" on my cell phone andf I CAN view all of the web sites I could not view using the wifi connection I has.

Thank you to everyone for your help.

Did you run the network diagnostics?

Were you able to figure out what DNS settings you are using? Here is how you can find your DNS settings. Do this without your cell hotspot.

If you post back what DNS settings your system is using, we can see if you are using some DNS filtering.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Unable to view some web sites even though they are marked "safe" by Norton.

JMFC, in your post I read " Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 172.16.10.1". Do you use the Norton Core router? This shows as the default IP address for me on Core. The DNS values 75.114.81.1 / 75.114.81.2 are owned by Spectrum as that would show who your ISP is and their domain name servers. IPv4: 8.8.8.8 and/or 8.8.4.4. as shown are Google IPV4 public domain name server addresses and are routed to the nearest Anycast domain server. This is most likely an indicator that Google is your default search engine.

You can also open an elevated RUN command: Run as administrator, type in ipconfig /flushdns, press enter. REBOOT the system to allow the system DNS values to renew themselves.

You may want to give some of the suggestions here a try, clearing your browers DNS cache at times fixes thing.

Cheers
