This forum thread needs a solution.

My malware removal expert advised me to install "unchecky."   It is a program that automatically unchecks the add ons/pups that we have to uncheck when we download programs (like toolbars, etc).  Which is nice since some download sites hide their add ons which then get downloaded, if you don't pay attention.  My problem is that it is not working.  I am still having to uncheck the add ons.

Is it possible Norton blocked an aspect of this program that is keeping it from working as designed?

If so, how can I fix it?

Re: "Unchecky"

Hi, Tonto. I believe Unchecky is still in beta. I'd suggest when you download stuff, always download from the developer's site and just uncheck any bundled items you don't want.

You're less likely to get that, than from 3rd party download sites.

Hello Tonto

If you are working with a malware removal expert from one of our recommended sites, any questions or problems you are having running the requested programs should be brought to the attention of the malware removal expert and not here. Sorry. These removal sites have strict rules about requesting help from other sources.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Norton Core Security Plus Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.

Re: "Unchecky"

Unchecky is an useful and well established little program that was recently acquired from the developer by Reason Software.

Perhaps NIS is preventing it from working because it appears to be making a change in another program.

I have never seen a pre-checked box since I installed it, but have seen unchecked boxes only.
