Uninstall NIS before installing NS?

If I were to purchase the new Norton Security, should I install it over NIS I have currently running, or uninstall NIS first? It the latter, should I also use that "remove completely" tool?

Thanks

Offcourse uninstall first and use the Norton Removal tool if you don't want to run through issues! It surprises me how people always ask this question, not just with Norton, with ever AV! it takes 1 minute max to uninstall an AV and get rid of all its traces!

Re: Uninstall NIS before installing NS?

I overinstalled NS a month ago and I have not encountered issues.
Other users have installed NS in this way and I am not aware they are having problems due to overinslall.
I had already said on this thread

" My NS is working very well and so quietly That I did not remember this That Happened Had never in the 10 years I was using NIS. "

After a month of its installation, I can just confirm what I said previously.

Actually in many cases that's not a good idea, especially if you use the Vault! The only way to keep the local vault is to install on top of NIS and many of us consider that an imperative. Many people have done the install over NIS without problems, I actually haven't seen any place where people had problems doing that.

Symantec say it's ok to over install, although you may wish to check all the settings if you elect to keep them, as some are different.
