Re: Unknown errors (WIN8.1)

Hello there,

Then you can re-try scanning your system after you restart your Windows 8.1. This helps overcome some possibly temporary issue with the scanning function.

If the said error or some other specific error code persists, please try erasing the current install of your Norton product by enabling the "I plan to reinstall a Norton product..." option below > follow the onscreen wizards > restart your system.

BTW, what Norton product are you using? If you need a complete setup file, you can review this post@ https://community.norton.com/en/forums/link-latest-nis-2014-v-21x-offlin...

For more help, please do not miss official Norton Support here.

PS: Norton scan error?

Re: Unknown errors (WIN8.1)

After a COLD start and executed INSIGHT then cancelling all running processes,  I was successful in running Startup files but after another COLD start and executed INSIGHT then cancelling all running processes, untrusted files returned unknown errors. Still an issue?  By the way, I'm a SR QA on IBM Mainframes, must be in the blood. Thx

Re: Unknown errors (WIN8.1)

A cold start on Win 8 will not do a complete shutdown and restart if you have the Fast Startup feature enabled. If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10, there can be an issue with the Fast Start feature.. See more information here.

@ 8 Ball:

As for the aforesaid offline installers here, please remember to upgrade your installation by running LiveUpdate.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

@20750065

If I may. The installers noted in your link in the post above are for older V21 products. If 8 Ball uses the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool, it would get the latest version of their current product.  www.norton.com/nrnr

Re: Unknown errors (WIN8.1)

My Norton version is "22.7.1.32 "  I thought this was current.  I don't use FAST START. Is it corrupt? Pls advise. Thx

Re: Unknown errors (WIN8.1)

There is no way for us to tell if your Norton product is corrupt. We can only try the suggestions we know for a given issue, and if they do not solve things, we suggest reinstalling to get a fresh install of your product.

Using the Norton Removal and Reinstall tool will get the same product you have now. Just be sure you read the before you begin section, and run LiveUpdate manually a few times, restarting as necessary, until no updates are available

Re: Unknown errors (WIN8.1)

A LVL 1 performed a removal and reinstall about 2 weeks ago. In fact, I lost contact with the CHAT room after this R&R, LOL. Never even called me back knowing the chat disconnected. I always perform LIVE Updates until not required. This issue is not a priority one nor a red flag, maybe info only type. The maintenance team could put it in there bucket list.

Re: Unknown errors (WIN8.1)

Sometimes you need a more thorough uninstall using the Norton Removal Tool from   www.norton.com/nrt

Download and run the tool, then restart your computer. Then log into your Norton Account at   https://manage.norton.com

Click on the Services tab and choose your current subscription and click on the Download button. This will download and install a pre activated copy of your current product. Again, be sure to run Liveupdate until no updates left.
