Updates and Patches

I mentioned this in a prior thread about a problem that existed with live update early this AM, but I am afraid it is now buries there and won't be seen.

I have a newly installed version of NS. I installed it late last night and updated it. During the update process I received two patches. For a variety of reasons I decided to uninstall NS to be reinstalled this morning. I used the Norton Removal Tool. After I heard that the live update issue was fixed i did a clean reinstall of NS with the Norton Removal Tool.

When I reinstalled it the Live update process was  failing by not completing update downloads. It was an issue acknowledged by support and was quickly fixed.

On my clean reinstall of NS after the Live Update Issue was fixed I did not receive any patches during the update process.

Is this because they changed the downloaded installer file to include the patches?

Is there any way to check if I have installed what was formally installed via 2 patches? In other words, is there a way to check that I have acompletely updated NS.

I was scolded a few weeks ago on this forum for trying to see if I had received a patch by checking the version number. Is there any way to tell whether or not I still need the patches??? This morning  I do not have a lot of confidence in the Live Update Service because of its failure for a few hours early this AM.(Update down loads were not being completed.)

Re: Updates and Patches

Hi hok,

You mean this thread that has 6 replies?  I don't think it is buried!

https://community.norton.com/forums/live-updates-failed-complete

It is possible that the first install (with the patches) was from an older source than the most current download available.  So (for example) if you got the initial download from a cd/dvd or saved copy of the download on your system, it is possible that you got a newer updated version if you downloaded from online instead of using a saved copy.  You know your situation better than anyone else as to where the downloads came from and what you may have done differently.

Also it is possible that the update (most recent) may have included the patches, but if you can tell us the version you have installed (Support > About from main page) perhaps someone can assist in telling you if you are current or not.

Re: Updates and Patches

All installs cam from the same downloader that I downloaded about 3 AM. However what was actually downloaded by that  downloader at two different times separated by about 4 hours can not be determined.

My version number is 22.02.17

This was my message;

Hello hok,

I also read through the other thread about what you have experienced, unfortunately I'm still using NIS and I cannot say what might have led to
what you said.
AFAIK, NS 22.0.2.17 is the current version.

Perhaps, someone who is already using NS or NSWB could take a look here to suggest how you might proceed.
