URGENT: Importing passwords from Google chrome

I would like to transfer logins & passwords from Google to Norton Password Manager. I am following directions in

https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v125566479.

I am simply unable to find the file norton_logins.json on my desktop, or anywhere else. I have made sure I can see hidden files.

PLEASE HELP.

Re: URGENT: Importing passwords from Google chrome

Did you select Chrome and Firefox (32-bit) passwords as outlined in step #5 of the article? Did you leave your browser open as suggested in step #7?

Cheers

Enable JavaScript in Chrome if it isn't already enabled, retry again.

Re: URGENT: Importing passwords from Google chrome

Verify that the file is where it should be by doing a search on the file norton_logins.json; assuming it is the right name; in Windows Explorer on your C: drive.  Do a full drive search or maybe at least your user folders.  This will give you an indicator of where a problem might be happening.  I assume that you need the file to transfer it elsewhere?

Give this video a go, see if maybe you are missing something.

Re: URGENT: Importing passwords from Google chrome

None of the above solutions work. As I stated in my initial post, I am simply unable to find the file norton_logins.json on my desktop, or anywhere else. Whatever you see in the video at 2:11 does not happen to me when I follow the instructions. The only comments in that YouTube video are from other disappointed users. Notice that Norton is not exactly jumping in to help here.

Norton support told me that my problem can not be solved because my Chrome browser and computer are both 64-bit. Something tells me that they might be misinformed on this subject. I gave up on Norton Password Manager and took to using Last Pass.

If anyone reading this managed to import passwords from a 64-bit Chrome browser, please let me know.

Re: URGENT: Importing passwords from Google chrome

Are you using a Windows admin account when trying to do the import? You may have to look in Users>(admin account user name) Desktop. The norton_logins.json file may be there.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: URGENT: Importing passwords from Google chrome

It is not a matter of finding the .JSON file. I find it easily but I have been told that the password transfer is only possible with a 32 bit system. But that's because they only have a tool for a 32 bit system. There are web pages that will convert the chrome exported CSV file to a .JSON file. I agree with ssathyan. I don't believe the Norton Help desk is fully versed.

I also believe that in the 21st century this should not be an issue. If you are going to support 64 bit then you should support 64 bit and not part of it.

William, when you said:

If you can find the .json file the tool is doing what its supposed to do, have you used it to complete the import to validate?
