Urgent Tech Help (UTH) Scam

I received a phone call from Microsoft stating multiple error/risk/warning messages were pinging from my laptop to the tech support center. The gentleman proceeded to show me multiple areas indicating security risks. He requested I allow him to remote in and correct the issue. I allowed him to do so. I had a Trojan virus before and it went undetected through Norton so I figured the call was legit. Also, the gentleman showed me several areas (I now know were fake) indicating my computer was infected. I obtained the following information from the gentleman re: Urgent Tech Help

It wasn't until I called Microsoft this morning for an update I was informed it was a phishing scam.

Re: Urgent Tech Help (UTH) Scam

Hello

Neither Microsoft or Norton would just call up and say you have malware. The only time Norton would call you is if you had called them first about a problem and they were calling back with your permission to continue to work on the problem or to make sure that everything was ok. But these call backs are expected then. Beware of any one doing cold calling about anything....Always request that something be mailed to you if someone is asking for a donation even. Too many people out there that fall for these phishing scams, so they continue to find more of them...

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 10 Pro 64 bit Norton Core Security Plus 22.18.0.213 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.
