Websites Blocked by Norton Safe Web

Hi Safe Web Team,

I am writing this to draw your attention towards ongoing false detection of below websites by Norton Safe Web, below are the direct URL’s for detections.

https://safeweb.norton.com/report/show_mobile?url=driverdetails.com
https://safeweb.norton.com/report/show_mobile?url=advancepctools.net
https://safeweb.norton.com/report/show_mobile?url=advancepctools.org
https://safeweb.norton.com/report/show_mobile?url=pcfixertools.net

All these websites distribute 1 specific product respectively, we have multiple builds of the same product for tracking purposes. The product behavior remains same throughout. Below are the setups due to which our websites are being blocked, and all of these setups are marked as PUA (not malware) by Norton AV.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

driverdetails.com

PUA.UniversalDriver: http:// cdn . driverdetails . com/du/securedl/duaptdusite(dot)exe

PUA.UniversalDriver: http:// cdn . driverdetails . com/du/c2/securedl/dupcspoff2(dot)exe

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

advancepctools.net

PUA.AdvancedPCCare: http:// cdn . advancepctools . net/asc/c2/securerc/ascsetmra1(dot)exe

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

pcfixertools.net

PUA.AdvancedPCCare: http:// cdntc . pcfixertools . net/apcfx/c4/securerc/velmaapcfx1(dot)exe

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

advancepctools.org

PUA.AdvancedPCCare: http:// cdn . advancepctools . org/asc/c5/securedl/ascsetupcatus728(dot)exe

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a huge difference between PUA (potentially unwanted program) and Malware. These websites do not modify any existing browser settings, nor does it inject ads or hijack browsers. These websites are also not involved in any kind of identity theft activities. I can go on and on. The matter of the fact is that we have huge financial losses, due to these detections. And I urge you to take it off as soon as you can. Please let me know about anything that I can provide you to enable that.

Regards,

Rajendra Kuldeep

Re: Websites Blocked by Norton Safe Web

Hi Everyone,

I was in Contact with an Authorized Person from Symantec Regarding These Issues and I got a Response.

"This looks to me like a bug.  The actually classification of the program on SafeWeb is correct.  Its refer to as a PUA.  But its been put in the wrong category, turning the site red. No excuse, this is wrong and I’ll get it fixed."

You can See the Changes in the Results. The PUA Category has been introduced and the same is updated for all the mentioned Website. Websites ratings are turned into orange now.

Regards,

Rajendra
