Why does ID Safe export take so much longer now?

I have NIS 21.1.0.18 installed on a Win8.1 x64 notebook.  I've noticed recently that exporting the ID Safe is taking about twice as long as it did before.  Problem is I don't know if it's an NIS issue, Win 8.1 issue, or both.  I upgraded to the latest NIS version on 10/16 and to Win8.1 on 10/18.  It used to take about 3 mins to do the export.  Now it takes about 5-6 mins.  Is any one else seeing this?

Re: Why does ID Safe export take so much longer now?

Hi KBPrez,

I hate to tell you this, but my Export (WIn 7, 64 bit, with about 50 or 60 logins)  takes about 30 to 45 seconds to Export.  I have heard that others are taking longer - dependent on the number of their logins, but not that long!  I am also running NIS 21.1.0.18.  It seems the .dat export tsakes a bit longer than the .csv.

Thanks yank!  I've always exported to .dat.  I now have about 120 logins, but I've added less than 10 of those since I upgraded to the latest NIS version.  I don't see how 10 new logins could add so much time to the export.  I'll try exporting to .csv to see if it makes a difference.

FWIW...

Even though the content is identical, I've noticed that (with NISv20), exporting the online vault takes longer than exporting the local vault, regardless of the export format.

I exported my vault to a csv file and then to a dat file.  The csv export took about 3 mins.  The dat took about 7 mins 50 sec.  I realize csv only does logins and notes, but most of my vault is logins, so I don't understand the time difference.  This is not a serious problem.  Just seems odd.

You think perhaps the encryption makes it take longer? ,dat is encrypted, while .csv is text???

Great point yank!  I didn't think of that.  It makes perfect sense.  Thank you!
