Why does NSBU.exe insert itself into my Bkp sets?

I have been having trouble with Backup in my Norton Security (I use Win 7). This is something new:  I set up a Bkp set and then try to run it. It fails after some time after backing up part of the set.  The error message says there's some problem, but nothing on solving it. When I look at the list of files in that Bkp Set after it fails, I find NSBU.exe inserted into the list. This file is found in c:\Program Files (x86)\Norton Security with Backup\Engine\22.9.1.12. I am NOT backing up Program Files, just my document files.  I cannot for the life of me figure out why this is happening. Doesn't happen in all my Bkp sets however.  Now when I create a Bkp set, I then Preview it to see if NSBU is there. If it is, I try to exclude it, but it will not be excluded. Since this program prevents my backups from completing after spending a fair amount of time backing things up, I don't know what to do.

ONCE I changed the name of the main folder containing the files for the Bkp set. This worked--no NSBU.  But it didn't work on other Bkp sets. I'm stuck.  What is this all about??

Thanks for any help you can give me!
