Its been over a year and a half since Windows 10 was introduced and Norton Security STILL DOES NOT PROTECT you when using the Microsoft Edge browser. Why?
Norton does scan any file you download with Edge. Edge has its own malware and phishing protection if you enable Smart Screen.
Yeah, I know it's not the same thing, just pointing out that you still have protection when using Edge.
Thanks for pointing that out. I'll select Edge as default and enable Smart Screen and see if Norton still gives the warning. I haven't tried it lately.
You probably will get a warning from Norton. Click Don't show me again to not see it for a few weeks.
You can visit www . eicar . org to test the Norton Security with download a test file, there two version are Standard Protocol (Non SSL) and Secure Protocol with SSL, the file extension you can try are .txt & .com.
Thanks for that information also. I just set Edge as default and turned on Windows Defender Smart Screen, so will see if the warning pops up tomorrow. Norton did block the test files suggested by the above response -- so it seems to be safe --got a lot more confidence in it. Regards.
Thanks for that information. I did try downloads on the various formats and protocols of the test file and, indeed, Norton after analyzing them did block them and label them as unsafe in Edge.. That gives me a lot more confidence in using Edge to discover if its better than Chrome. Regards.
You are welcome.
