Re: Will It Run On A Windows Smartphone?

hi Nikki605

Norton presently does not support Windows Phone so it cannot be installed.

I keep on at Companies to make apps for Windows Phone whenever I possibly can so it may make them sort something out for it.

Hello nikki605

You can ask for it to be supported in the Product Suggestion Forum. If enough users would like that option, it is possible that Norton would make it available. My 2 cents.

Thanks.

Why do you need Norton on Windows Phone? I have a Lumia 925 with Windows Phone 8.1.

You have all the tools built-into the OS. If you need to track, ring, or erase your phone you can use the Microsoft site.

In fact it is better to have the OS instead of the 3rd party if possible, Microsoft follows the Apple model where apps can only be installed via the store.

In summary, there is no need for Norton on windows phone as there is no Norton on iPhone.

I (for one) would enjoy having an access path (like Keeper and LastPass have done) for getting to my Norton IDSafe (online vault) when using my Lumia Windows Phone...

But Security? For that I also agree, it's just not a worthwhile endeavor for Norton to bother pursuing (for these devices)...

BTW: Isn't there an IDSafe implementation for iPhone?

Cheers!

Yes there is an ID safe app for IOS, as there is also an IOS version of Norton Mobile Security that the OP was asking about for the Windows phone.

Having said that, the NMS for IOS is very weak in that there are no security features, and the locate and scream features require you to actually have the app running for any of the features to work. It does not just run in the background as does the free Find my Phone app from Apple.

Re: Will It Run On A Windows Smartphone?

Thanks Peter -

I thought that was pretty much how it is with iPhone Norton implementations... And FWIW, (I think) any NMS implementation, if ever done for Windows Phone (very doubtful,) would of necessity end up much the same as that already done for iPhone...

But I still stand by my position (and personal desire) for an IDSafe implementation for Windows Phone...

After all - if the other vendors have bothered going to the trouble (for their PW solutions), I'd certainly assume that they felt there was a valid and worthwhile market justification to do so...

Thanks again, and Cheers!

Re: Will It Run On A Windows Smartphone?

Microsoft has done their job and now has the same version of Windows 10 running on my smartphone and all other Windows computers. I don't understand why Norton can't support Windows Smartphone. Since Windows Defender doesn't protect their Smartphones, I don't understand that either. I do know that McAfee does support all forms of Windows, including the Smartphone. I am seriously considering dropping my long term relationship with Norton and switching teams if  something doesn't happen soon; as in by the time my subscription expires or before. I feel very vulnerable on the phone. So Norton, if you are listening; I know there are others like me, as I have spoken with them and they feel the same as I. They are also mostly Norton loyalists, but since Norton is no longer required for me to connect to my company system, I have no reason to remain in the Norton camp.

Can you provide a link for the information on McAfee supporting Windows Mobile. My searching could not turn up this information. What I found for the mobile support was just Android and IOS support. Just like Norton.

Re: Will It Run On A Windows Smartphone?

I am terribly sorry. I got distracted while writing this. The product that actually does work on Windows 10 Smartphone is AVG. You have to load their Zen Pro, which is like a control panel for all the devices that you will use and then send an invite to the phone. It's not terribly intuitive, but they will help you. It loads, optimizes and performs things on the Smartphone, just as it does on the computer, which makes me feel a little safer. I do wish Norton would support Win 10 Smartphone, as I have been a Norton advocate for a very long time and still feel comfortable with them, but I do want all my devices protected, preferably with one product. I have my own product for password security that has a two step, access system that is also encrypted. The only weakness is that if you lose or forget your passwords, you are done, as there is no way they can be recovered and the file is lost in netherworld forever. I don't store that password on any of my devices:-), as I don't store any of my extremely critical passwords on any system.
