Windows 10 Download Followed by Norton 10 upgrade caused computer to malfunction

I downloaded the free version of Windows 10 from Microsoft.  After it downloaded, I received a notice from Norton that my present internat security is not compatible with Windows 10.  The box asked me to click a button to download the Windows 10 compatible version of Norton.  After doing so, my computer will not function.  All it does is flash my computer background off and on and will not even allow me to use the start button.  Something is very wrong.  I have an HP computer.  The computer I am using now is a small spare device I have.  My main computer will not work!!!  After I log on to Windows 10, it malfunctions.

Re: Windows 10 Download Followed by Norton 10 upgrade caused computer to malfunction

I constantly get a reminder that my Norton 360 is not compatible with Windows 10.  However I don't intend to upgrade but cannot get rid of the prompt.  Now Norton 360 regularly refuses to run, returning a "8504,100" error or occasionally "3019,1" forcing me to run NRnR to re-install.  As a result all previous security history is lost.  Have also tried to download the new version of Norton 360 but just get a "another download manager is running, please try later" message.  It's all very time-consuming and a worry that my security is not always up-to-date.  Any advice appreciated but please be aware that I'm not a "techy" just a mere user.  In fact not even sure I'm addressing this to the right area of the forum.  Any suggestions?

@rogerr try restarting your computer that should end the current download manager that is running. Then download and install your Norton product.
