Windows Defender and Norton both INACTIVE?

I have come to realize that, unlike most other users here, both Windows Defender AND Norton seem to be inactive and are turned "off". Even when I attempt to turn Norton back on, nothing happens. (And yes, I have tried turning it off and on again). When I open the app itself, it says that a scan was completed yesterday, so I am not really sure what to think about this. Please help!

Re: Windows Defender and Norton both INACTIVE?

Welcome,

It sounds like you have an infection. One of their characteristics is to disable security which might delete them. If one of the following scans doesn't solve the problem please, post back for a bigger, badder tool

Re: Windows Defender and Norton both INACTIVE?

Hello JBroersen

If you are going to use the NPE, please be careful with it. It can be a dangerous tool if you decide to delete the wrong file. It may have a restore point, but if you can no longer restart, then a restore point won't help.

Thanks.

Re: Windows Defender and Norton both INACTIVE?

What operating system are you using?

If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10, there can be an issue with the Fast Start feature.. See more information here.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
