Windows user account password gets entered Unexpectedly

Hi,
I have Windows 7 HOme premium OS on my gateway laptop which has only one user account and on turning on laptop that user password gets entered Automatically which is unexpected and its very long. Then i have to hit enter which shows Wrong password message and then it allows me to enter my password, then entering this time my password windows get started.
I reinstalled windows 7 from scratch on my Gateway laptop with factory default settings to wipe out everything, But still it.shows me that problem of unexpected password gets entered for user account. I tried Norton antivirus premium trial versions, did full scan but it shows my system has no virus/malware. Please advise.

Thanks,

Re: Windows user account password gets entered Unexpectedly

Have you tried the reverse of this article
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ee872306.aspx
Were you running a Security product before NAV
Maybe some nasty changed your settings.  See if you can manually change back to having to enter a password for your Windows user account
This one has pictures ~ if you can follow in reverse.  How you ended up with auto login IDK

Hope I understand your issue.  Since you did a clean install.  Maybe a BIOS setting?

Or, a member versed in this area will chime in.  This is a first for me...
EDIT: DaveH to the rescue.  Been so long since I setup my Windows Vista password didn't know there was an auto login option.
Using automatic logon can pose a security risk because anyone that has access to your computer will have access to your programs and personal files.   Guess, that's why I put the option out of my mind.

Click start and in the search box type netplwiz and press enter

In the user account screen make sure the box is checked that says "User must enter a name a password to use this computer.

Re: Windows user account password gets entered Unexpectedly

Hi mal10,
Check your keyboard . . . .
It seems either keys of keyboard or its controller or the driver is at fault. Else it may be some dust or moisture which caught between the terminals of keys.
I had a similar situation last few months and had to replace the keyboard set. (btw, I used my laptop for heavy gaming and editing, so it ruined keyboard. )
You can check if some ghost caught keyboard by keeping your system idle for sometime after opening a notepad / wordpad / something where you can enter text. Check after sometime if any text is being automatically entered. Then if nothing is entered automatically, then press and check if all keys are functioning properly.
Hope it helps.

Re: Windows user account password gets entered Unexpectedly

I checked all keys of my keyboard in Notepad and they are functioning properly.... my concern is that i have done re-installation of OS with no data backup, like new pc... but still on Admin user login screen it automatically enters the long password to full extent (.............................).

Re: Windows user account password gets entered Unexpectedly

Hi,
Do you observe the issue only when logging in?
I strongly feel its a hardware issue or driver problem. May be in its initial stage. Its better to take it to service center (if under warrenty) and check if any cables are bent / worn out or loosely connected or leads erroded. Also have them check the keyboard controller and / chipset.
