x on computer ikon; got Russian letters login message

I've had no problem with the backup for the past year until a few days ago when, using the "bankup now" ikon on the desktop, the backup failed. I tried to backup from the home page without success too and to download files, it not logging in there. There is an "x" on the computer ikon. What does that mean? I got a funny looking Russian lettered page with an x near the Norton sign when I once tried to log in. I use an American company VPN which bounces things around the world and to other sites so it can appear as if I'm in Europe though I login through a NY site. Any thoughts?

I don't have a large backup (less than 1GB). Should I purge me files, reinstall the Norton software, and start over?

Thanks to all.

Re: x on computer ikon; got Russian letters login message

Hello Craig

I'm wondering if part of the issues are related to the VPN you mentioned. If that connection drops it may be causing the backups to terminate. The red X means the backup failed. There should be logs available next to the Computer name when you login to the website. Do you see the View Log link? If yes, what are the errors its showing?

The VPN is most likely causing the language issue. The website will detect your country of origin and seems it thinks you're in Russia. Does it happen if you login on a separate machine or not on VPN?

Purging and starting over won't make difference just yet but we won't rule that out just yet.
