Firefox Crashes

Running FF 33 and Norton 360. FF crashes several times a day when identity vault opens or attempts to open.
I sent all crash reports to FF and they claim it is a Norton problem. I have updated both FF and Norton and it makes no difference.

Last resort is to disable Norton toolbar. I use the vault for every page I go into so that is not my preferred option.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Firefox Crashes

Hi, Mamapup. Welcome. What I normally suggest is that you run Live Update until no more are found, and THEN download a fresh copy of Firefox, and overinstall your current version.

This often helps with compatibility as all patches and updates are done beforehand.

Rebooting after the install may help, as well.

Re: Firefox Crashes

Hi Mamapup. Recently, I've also seen Norton toolbar FF plugin crashes. Please check the details of the crash in about:crashes and see if the signature and stack modules of crashing thread are like in this one https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/f92e9884-2c89-46c2-abd4-2ff... . If yes, you are experiencing the same bug like thousands others https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/list?product=Firefox&signature=ns... . Brief look into FF source code shows that plugin tries to initialize string in FF internal runtime by either passing completely invalid pointer, incorrectly terminated string (unicode vs. 8-bit mismatch?) or hitting some race condition leading to use-after-free. Rgds, Ondrej
