How can I stop Norton from classifying a program as malicious, thanks?

I have used "Process Hacker" for years as white-hat software.  It was recently renamed as "Hacktool Process Hacker 2".  Now Norton Security has started classifying it as malicious - for a couple of months or so.  I receive a notification that Norton has found it about every fifteen minutes.  It is an excellent program that apparently now trips some trigger in Norton.  I would like to change Norton so that it doesn't continually send me notifications about this particular program.  Can anyone tell me how?

Thanks in advance,

Re: How can I stop Norton from classifying a program as malicious, thanks?

Hello Pete. First, we are in the Norton Core boards of the forums. Reading your post and issue, I must ask are you using the Norton Core router and app? Having the Core will be a separate issue from a simple Norton detection.

You can follow the screenshot below to exclude this from detection, doing so at your own risk of course. There isn't any guarantee that Norton will not still detect the program as its designed to stop anything that can be destructive to the host OS.

Secondly, Symantec rapid response has an article on the detection you are suggesting you see here. Although this may not be the exact program you are describing, it nonetheless is what Norton/Symantec will detect. Malwarebytes even offers an article and download for the same tools here.

Cheers

FWIW ~ when I ran Process Hacker Setup (from sourceforge.net). I needed to tell Norton to exclude Hacktool.ProcHack <info here> & Hacktool.ProcHack!g1 <info here> and I needed to Allow ProcessHacker.exe to connect.  YMMV

Note: my Norton setup is likely not exactly like OP.
Note: Hacktool.ProcHack & Hacktool.ProcHack!g1 Signatures listed with Security Risks.

Note: Signature exclusions reduce your protection and should be used only if you have a specific need. Only exclude security risks from scans if you understand the risk impact <info here>.
Note: Signature exclusions either direct thru Norton prompt or thru User action = Signatures to Exclude from All Detections is at User risk.
FWIW ~ YMMV
