Norton is spamming requests at me to install it's toolbar.

I just got a 1-year subscrption to Norton (a real one that cost me 90$, not one of those that comes pre-installed on your computer), I got sick of Avast's spam and weird results.

Things look good, but about 2 or 3 times a week a pop-up appears in the lower-right of my screen asking me if I want to use the Norton Toolbar (I don't).  I see there's a "Don't ask again" option, which I click every time, but the pop up always comes back... How do I stop this pop-up?  It's getting really annoying.

Hi, PTNLemay. Welcome. I don't know what version of Norton you're running, but you can try going through your settings and turning off any notifications you don't want/need.

Enabling the browser pop up blocker will help, too.

Re: Norton is spamming requests at me to install it's toolbar.

It's not coming from the browser though, it's coming from the windows toolbar (that thing at the bottom-right of the desktop with all of the icons and the clock).  Norton itself sees that I'm running Chrome and he keeps asking if I want to install his toolbars for it.  I even tried saying yes, but he's not content unless I install ALL of them.  I don't want to activate EVERY Norton add-on in Chrome.   But if I don't, he doesn't stop prompting me to turn them on.

I did find a "Silent Mode" that turns off pop-ups, but you can only have it running for a day at the most (the toolbar popup shows up about once every 2 days, which still pretty annoying).  I'll keep looking...

My version number is 22.0.1.9

Re: Norton is spamming requests at me to install it's toolbar.

Hi, again. I don't run Chrome, any more. I don't like the problems it causes people, after Google changed the rules regarding 3rd party extensions.

Hopefully, another Chrome user may have some suggestions.

I am having the same problem.  Every day the Norton software is spamming me with the message in the lower right corner toolbar asking me to install the Norton toolbar.  I click "don't ask again" but it asks everyday.  I did not pay for this Norton software to spam me for toolbar installations.

Re: Norton is spamming requests at me to install it's toolbar.

I'm having exactly the same problem with Norton Security with Backup and Chrome. At least once every day I get a pop-up in the lower right corner of the desktop prompting me to install the toolbar. I've checked through all of the settings and found no way to turn off these prompts.

I have no desire to use the toolbar, so if anyone knows how to disable the pop-ups (without installing the toolbar in Chrome), please let us know.

Re: Norton is spamming requests at me to install it's toolbar.

I have the same problem.  Once a day I get a popup asking if I want to install the Toolbar, and every day the answer is NO!  I click on the option to "Do Not Show Me This Message Again", yet it appears 24 hours later, day after day after day.  What the heck Norton?

Re: Norton is spamming requests at me to install it's toolbar.

I do not use Chrome and was having a similar problem, so since I do not use Chrome, I uninstalled it and ended the popups!

May not be the answer if you use Chrome, but for non-Chrome users like myself - it worked!
