Windows 10

I added my name to the Windows 10 Reserve list. Now I realize my current Norton 360 / Windows7 product might not be compatible with Windows 10. Should I remove my name from the Reserve list and wait for Norton 360 / Windows 10 compatibility? Any expected timeframe for the upgrade? Thank you.

Re: Windows 10

No need to remove your name.  You're not obligated to the list.  Besides...

You're also not obligated to be first online...

Re: Windows 10

Your fears are grounded, at least in the short term. I upgraded to windows 10. It went well. Norton 360 would not start. I was advised to use Internet explorer not the new browser, and to use the Norton remove reinstall tool.

Everything worked well even identity safe.

Next day Norton 360 would not start. I used live chat they repeated the remove and reinstall. Again everything worked well until the next day. I lost count of the daily remove reinstalls after the first week.

However, last week  I added Norton 360 to "Startup", and since then 360 has started most times. The few times 360 has not started, restarting windows has done the trick.

So on my experience, do the windows upgrade, use Internet explorer and if 360 does not start, remove reinstall and add to Startup. Windows 10 seems good and Norton will eventually catch up.

Re: Windows 10

hi Richard

One of the difficulties with windows 10 is the Fast Start-up feature many programs including Norton and even windows itself do not work properly with it turned on, which is the default setting when installing Windows 10. If you are not familiar with Fast Start-up you may wish to have a look at the two pieces of information linked below:

Windows Fast Start-up 1

Windows Fast Start-up 2

Norton v22.5.2.15 is the latest version of Norton products which are compatible with Windows 10 earlier versions will not work. It is necessary to avoid problems with the install of Windows 10 to update your Norton to the latest version BEFORE trying to install the upgrade.

Re: Windows 10

Thanks Michael, that would explain why my workaround, adding Norton to StartUp, worked for me. My Family have 5 PCs using Norton and Windows 10.

Now I have a work around,  I am glad I have both, windows 10 and Norton. I do not see any reason to delay the Windows 10 upgrade because of Norton.

Re: Windows 10

hi Richard

You are quite right having Norton 360 is no reason to delay installing Windows 10 I just made sure my devices and programs were upto date as possible before trying to install when it went on the whole very smoothly.
