Installed new drive with new Windows 10 install. Can I move Norton across and with the same product key.

Hello,
As a recent upgrade to my PC I installed an SSD as my primary drive with the OS install on it. The new drive is running a fresh install of WIndows and as such counts as a new device. I was wondering if it was possible to install Norton on this drive with out repurchasing a new product key because I have since lost the Box that the install disc came with and the product key. My old drive is still installed and still has the old OS files on it as I haven't got around to deleting everything that is duplicated on both drives and moving over files that I require on the new drive.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Installed new drive with new Windows 10 install. Can I move Norton across and with the same product key.

Is it set up to Dual boot with a Boot Manager Menu at the beginning? If so you could boot up to the old drive and get the details from it including the KEY to activate .... or install and activate on the new drive OS from the old drive when you are booted up to it.

If this fits what you have (or if it's not set up to dual boot you could download and run the free EasyBCD utility and tell it to set up the second boot. It will create the boot menu and do all that is needed including setting the default boot OS and the names on the menu. If you decide to do this PLEASE download from the Free Download column on the left after scrolling down rather than a free trial of the Paid for version AND please do not, if you Google to find out more, use any of the other download sources that mention Free since they are known to add PUPs to the actual EasyBCD installer......

If you don't want to do any of that call the Norton OnLine Support team via the CHAT method as below and they can look up your details and give you the key and a download point.

To contact customer support Click on this link https://www.norton.com/chat and work on from there.

Please let us know how you get on .... or if you have any questions ....

You can log into your Norton Account at  https://manage.norton.com and click on the Services tab. Look for your current subscription and click on the Download button and follow the directions to install a pre activated copy of your Norton product.

You cannot just copy over the files from the old hard drive because Windows needs the correct registry entries to function properly.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

That is the simplest way but I suggested dual booting since it makes moving files and settings over so much easier. It's a useful form of backup too!
