SurfSideKick3 detection Superantispyware

So,  for the last 2 times I have done my weekly Superantispyware on-demand scan, it seems like the very first file it scans is a  file called Program Files(x86)/SurfSideKick3.  It only pops up/ scans it once and does not flag it as a threat.  It will show up the very first time the scan starts and then does not show up again until I scan again the following week. From what I read, SurfSideKick3  is a bad adware program, however, Norton does not find/flag it, neither does my Malwarebytes on-demand scan , even Superantispyware does not find it other then showing it getting scanned once at the very beginning, and the computer itself appears to be running fine.  I tried to look for it in file explorer but nothing comes up. Is this a false positive/am I being paranoid?

I have not used the computer very much for the last several months except to check emails and do weekly scans so I am not sure where it might have come from if it  even is on my computer.  Again, Norton and Malwarebytes show nothing and computer has not had any problems that I can tell.

Any advice/insight/help?

Thanks.

Is this a false positive/am I being paranoid?

I'd ask >>http://forums.superantispyware.com/index.php?/forum/32-false-positives/ > Lets hear from Community.

Re: SurfSideKick3 detection Superantispyware

If SuperAntiSpyware is not detecting this as a threat, then it is not a false positive.  It sounds like the concern is that SuperAntiSpyware is scanning a file that the user cannot find on the system.  For that, I think you would need to ask the SuperAntiSpyware folks, rather than the Norton folks.....

Re: SurfSideKick3 detection Superantispyware

Hello, Thanks for the answers. I guess what I am really trying to ask is if there is a possibility that I picked up some adware/malware that is not being detected by my security programs. Is there a possibility that this malicious program is on my computer but is able to hide from detection? Is Superantispyware picking up a hidden file that is hiding it self from being detected by Norton/Malwarebytes and also able to stop itself from being flagged by Superantispyware? Should I do scans in Safe mode? Thanks again and I will also check up the Superantispyware forums.

Re: SurfSideKick3 detection Superantispyware

Can you navigate to C:\ Program Files(x86)/SurfSideKick3?

What if you enable Hidden Files and Folders in File Explorer?

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

Hello I tried looking it up in file explorer with the hidden files/ folders shown and did not find anything.

Re: SurfSideKick3 detection Superantispyware

It could be like the Norton scan. The progress line shows what the scan is looking for. Not what it is finding.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
