Norton Autofix says Restart Required, but the NGC Engine update keeps failing even after multiple reboots.
Hello John. Download a run the Norton removal tool and select advanced options for REMOVE ONLY. Once completed reboot the system: https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v60392881_EndUserProfile_en_us
Once rebooted - *Log into your Norton account and download your product directly from there. Once installation has completed Norton should run live updates once on its own, at this point REBOOT. Once rebooted do NOT run live-update manually. Check your version in the Norton dashboard under help then about. Let us know what version you got from the Norton servers.
Additionally - NGC appears to one of the core components of the Norton product per this older thread. Let us know if the suggestion I posted above fixes your issue if you'd be so kind.

Thanks for reporting in Norton Community Forums. Are you still getting NGC Engine update failed error? Could you please let us know Norton version number installed? Also, Are you on Norton EAP build?
After running the Norton removal tool, Norton Security was able to run the latest LiveUpdate successfully with no error. Thank you very much for the quick response! Really appreciate it! =)
