Which My Documents????

My backup set is HUGE...upon investigation, I have found that with Windows 7 I have THREE MY DOCUMENTS folders...which means I am backing up three MY MUSICS? Three MY PICTURES" and Three MY VIDEOS?

To say the least....

Is my C: Drive screwed up or is this typical....if typical, which Document Folder do I include in my onle backup?

Re: Which My Documents????

Hello B52,

From the information you have provided it sounds like you have "Documents" selected by type and the folder to search under as:

C:\Documents and Settings or C:\Users

In this case to narrow down and not backup additional profiles you would want to change the folder to:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner or C:\Users\Owner

(Where Owner is your username.)

Please keep in mind there are some programs that save your data to All Users or Public.  So changing to the above directory will not include these profiles.  It is always best to double check what you have backed up so you can be certain that you have all of your files selected correctly.

Additionally if you have extra files backed up on the account that you no longer need, the files can be purged from the account to free up space.

Thank you,

Re: Which My Documents????

Here's a suggestion. Apparently your computer, somehow, is set-up to sav your files in more than one location. You can eliminate that situation pretty easy.

If you open Explorer (the folder file Icon in the Task Bar), you will see a listing of your computer in the left pane. The 2nd grouping is your Library and the files in it (Documents, Music, Photos,, Videos). If you click on any one of those, a window will open that shows all your folders in that Library group. At the very top, it will have the heading for those files and right below that heading it will say

"Includes" and the number of locations where those files are stored. If it shows more than one (1), then click on that link and another window will open and show you wherelese the files are stored. To eliminate any of those locations, move your cursor to that listing and when it is shaded, click on rermove. If you want only one location, delete all the others and the location you want will be the Default location and the only place those files will be stored.

I tried to include a couple snapshots, but file ext not acceptable here.
